PW Registry to Auction 50,000 Popular Domains
The PW Registry Corporation, a public trustee of the PW domain, yesterday announced that it is auctioning sponsorship rights for nearly 50,000 second-level (e.g. smith.pw) Internet domains.
This list includes popular surnames and first names, countries, cities and states, destination sites and short letter strings. Most of the second level domains selected for this auction represent communities of thousands or even millions of people. A PW Community Sponsorship grants the exclusive right to market a PW second-level domain. These second-level names in the PW domain are not exclusive to a single owner. They are administered by the PW Registry Corporation and shared among a community of users.
"With an inventory of 100 percent of the world's surnames, towns, schools and hobbies, the PW Sponsorship Program represents an ideal home-based business with no technical programming required," says Tom Barrett, President of PW Registry. "And with the availability of 100 percent of the world's school and sport team's mascots, a PW Sponsorship can help build fan loyalty and raise money for worthy causes. The only start-up cost is the initial license fee."
The Community Sponsorship program applies the principles of affiliate marketing and the exclusivity of the PW program is a major enhancement. Only one Community Sponsor is accepted for each PW second-level domain name and a PW Sponsor is paid a commission on every sale in the sponsored domain, no matter where the sale comes from.
