CD.com Domain Name Up For Sale
Moniker an ICANN registrar, today announced that the domain name - CD.com is available for sale through the company and that it is expected to receive high bids from a number of interested parties.
“We haven’t seen a domain name this rare in some time.” said Monte Cahn, CEO of domain registrar Moniker.com. “Many years ago all of the one, two and three letter combinations for domain names were purchased; CD.com will likely be sold to a very anxious corporate bidder.”

CD.com will likely generate interest from a number of different industries. “Leading companies in billion dollar industries such as music (Compact Disk) and finance (Certificate of Deposit) will likely want to secure this domain name.” said Eric Harrington, President of domain sales and marketing specialist Moniker.com “Additionally a company like Cendant, who’s stock symbol is CD or a company such as CDNow with CD in its name will want this leading domain name. A company will invest in this domain and build a marketing brand around it. A name this valuable will likely be sold only one time.”
According to Moniker, it is estimated that over 4.4 million people perform a search each month for the term 'CD' on search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN or AOL. “Domain names with poular search terms in the web site address often rank very high on the first page of search results; this makes a domain name like CD.com very valuable.” Said Jay Berkowitz, Chief Marketing Officer for Moniker.com.
WHOIS records show that CD.com was initially registered in 1992, and is currently for sale by DomainSystems, an affiliate of Moniker, which handles domain name sales, domain appraisals, escrow services, and after-market services.
